Indonesia rules in pre quarter-final round of Women’s Doubles event – Thailand Open Update
Third day of SCG Thailand Open turned day of triple joy for Indonesia when three of its Women’s Doubles teams ensured their presence in quarter-finals of the event on June 7, 2012.
This splendid victory saga was written CU Sports Complex of Bangkok and the pairs, who raised country’s flag in second round, were Suci Rizky Andini-Della Destiara Haris, Vita Marissa-Nadya Melati and Imawan Gebby Ristiyani-Nuraidah Tiara Rosalia.
The eight seeded couple Suci Rizky-Della Destiara set the foundation by overpowering lower ranked Korean duo Chan Mi Kim-A Ra Ko in just two games.
They showed unbeatable coordination and served the notice of their supremacy by registering distinctive figures of 21-16 and 21-19.
However, it is just beginning as this success setup their quarter-final clash with top seeded pair Xia Huan-Jinhua Tang of China.
If they win then it will fetch them a semi-final spot but they will have to put extra effort to surpass World Number 11 Chinese couple.
Next were Vita Marissa and Nadya Melati to join the party. They doubled the celebration by stamping Amelia Alicia Anscelly-Fie Cho Soong of Malaysia in pre quarter-finals.
The Indonesian girls, who are also seeded third in this tournament, found no trouble in sealing a straight-set victory.
They outclassed their challengers in all areas of game and stole the limelight with scoreboard flashing 21-15 and 21-17 margin in their favour.
Now their chemistry will be tested against Chinese campaigners Shu Cheng and Pan Pan who are enjoying really good form in this tournament.
The concluding chapter of saga was written by an underrated couple Imawan Gebby Ristiyani-Nuraidah Tiara Rosalia who continued their successful run and smacked down the second seed Shinta Mulia Sari-Lei Yao of Singapore.
They registered their class by entering final totals of 21-16, 16-21 and 21-19 in a hard fought three-set match.
However, their nerves will be tested against Thai opponents Duanganong Aroonkesorn-Kunchala Voravichitchaikul as the local duo will have the benefit of home ground and crowd.
Now all these pairs are under huge pressure as Indonesia is hoping them to carry on their current form against higher ranked challengers in round of eight.
