Indonesian legends lash out at national body after failing in Wuhan – Badminton News

Indonesia faced woeful exits from Thomas and Uber Cup 2012 and former greats declared Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) responsible for this failure in Wuhan, China.
This year, the thirteen time winner Indonesia could not even make into top four teams of the tournament and crashed out of the quarter-final round.
The badminton legends of country opened fire on national body for their poor policies which are putting future of the game in danger.
This league of extraordinary gentlemen includes international campaigners like Rudy Hartono, Ivana Lie and Taufik Hidayat along with PBSI officials like Christian Hadinata and Richard Mainaky.
Former Thomas Cup winner Rudy Hartono, who also is member of advisory board, criticised national body for turning a deaf ear to suggestions and demanded that board supremos should step down for their failures.

He said, “I’m still on the PBSI advisory board. I’ve been giving advice, but they’ve haven’t taken any of it. I hope now they will listen. If they cannot do their jobs well, they should just step down.”
Indonesian shuttlers have been struggling to make impact this year as none of them could bring an international title back home except Mixed Doubles duo Tontowi Ahmad-Liliyana Natsir who won All-England and Swiss Open 2012.
Things started getting worse when male and female squad of Indonesia failed to raise country’s flag and flew back home after losing quarter-finals against Japan in Thomas and Uber Cup Finals.
PBSI also came under fire for appointing foreign coaches Li Mao and Wong Tat Meng, who belong to China and Malaysia respectively, to monitor the national team in their race for glory.
Former Mixed Doubles World champion Ivana Lie questioned their command over craft as she stated that both coaches have failed to yield good results in last two years.

She said, “We are not against foreign coaches. We’d have no problem if they were great coaches. However, they’ve been here for two years and we haven’t seen any progress. We believe the PBSI should reconsider their jobs.”
Meanwhile, these badminton greats prepared a seven-point memo which will be presented to PBSI. They urged to transform national training and coaching plan of action by directing provincial bodies to play active role.
