Indonesia’s Taufik Hidayat contributes to repair thirty courts in East Jakarta – Badminton News
Indonesia’s mega star and former World Champion and Olympic gold medallist, Taufik Hidayat, made his contribution through funds to repair 30 courts in East Jakarta, Indonesia.
The 29-year-old Taufik Hidayat, who is currently standing at Number Four spot in the Men’s Singles world rankings, wants to make the sport popular in the country and he took the initiative in making the courts well prepared and more attractive for the players.
While talking about the renovation of the courts in Jakarta, the Olympic Champion said, “I hope this will reignite Indonesians’ love for badminton. People were very enthusiastic about the sport years ago.”
Taufik selected the courts in East Jakarta because he will soon start his badminton academy in the same area with the name of Taufik Hidayat Arena Sports Club and he wants to support players of the locality to have better playing conditions.
However, Taufik also wants to make such improvements in the other cities as well. He said, “We want to start [social] activities close to the Taufik Hidayat Arena. However, we certainly want to expand to other areas, including in my hometown.”
The World Number Four said that making the conditions of the court better will attract more shuttlers to play badminton and will also improve the profile of the sport in the country. It will make the game more common to everyone and more and more people
will get attracted towards it.
Indonesia’s badminton is going down gradually and the country has lost its dominating position with time. There is a huge need to initiate such activities to make the game popular and attract more people to participate in it. That is why Taufik has taken
the first step to make playing conditions better for the shuttlers in East Jakarta.
The Taufik Hidayat Arena Sports Club is expected to begin working in a few months and hopefully, it will start producing world-class shuttlers by providing them with top standard training facilities. The new initiative will certainly help them in becoming
better players by attaining a higher level of mental and physical skill.
