Our indoor Tom cat has gotten outdoors to seek female cats for the 1st time. How long before he comes back in the house? When his name is called; he looks at us and stops but will not come home.

  1. If you set out food, he will just eat it and keep on going.  Neutering does help some cats, but not all.  I've had tom cats disappear for months at a time, but eventually, they do come back.  Unless someone like Animal Control picks them up.

  2. You need to have him neutered as soon as possible.  He will be less likely to wish to leave home if he has no interest in the ladies.

Toms will "chase" after the ladies for days with little sleep and food.  So getting him to come home will be a challenge.  Try putting out the foods he loves best and hopefully he will come close enough for you to be able to "apprehend" your truant!

    Good Luck!

  3. I don't know what to tell you but my cat likes the outdoors more than indoors but she does eventually come in.

    But sometimes its a while
