I have a cat who sneaks out like a little bugger whenever I open the door. I cannot chase him so he ends up staying out for a couple hours and comes home. This has been going on all summer. He loves being out there. Now we are moving to an apartment in the city where he will not be able to go out. He howls to get out even now in my house to get out sometimes i open the door for him because he wants out so badly. I feel terrible, but I never wanted an outdoor cat! I am so worried about how he will enjoy his life indoors once we move .... We he ever forget about it and stop crying to go out for his adventures??

  1. it is possibal to get a cat leash and a cat collar  to walk them, some people do it.

  2. It is possible that he will adjust but you will need to try and make his indoor environment as exciting as possible to distract him. A range of different toys would be a good start but also simple things like a cardboard box can be just as fun. [My cat loves an empty cardboard box.] Try putting a few treats underneath with a few holes so your cat has to work out how to get to them - anything that recreates some of the outdoor excitement.

  3. I faced the same problem with our 4yr old female.

Where we were moving had alot of agressive snakes and I couldn't take the chance on her getting out.

We found her a good home before we left. I know she was safer in that area.

NO, that was not an easy choice, but I still feel it was the best one for her. Beacuse once they get out it's hard to keep them in.

    Good-Luck

  4. Well you can always buy a leash and harness and walk him around town.  Might be your best bet since he can't just run out and play anymore.  At least you can keep an eye on him.

  5. If your cat gets out when you move, you will most likely never see him again. So no matter how hard it is to keep him in, you have got to do it!  You want an indoor cat...don't let him out......he will stop crying so much if you get him a play mate (for indoors) preferably a female.
