Question:

Indoor plants?

I've got this window in my house. It faces the south but my backyard has quite a few trees that block most of the sun so it doesn't get very much sun. It does get some light though. It's a big window with a window seat. I want to put some plants there. Nothing too huge so you can still see out the window. Any suggestions?

  1. If you can put a hanging plant in there, hoya is hard to beat. Really easy to take care of and lasts for years and years. It gets the most unusual flower I have ever seen in summer. People are compelled to touch it because it does not look real.

For the windowsill, a variety of rex begonia would look magnificent. The variety on these plants is astonishing and several different ones would look great together. The leaves themselves are as beautiful as any flower!

  2. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sansevieria

This plant comes in many varieties. It's very forgiving when it comes to light and water. The upright habit means it does not sprawl and can easily live on windowsills. The shorter varieties like bird's nest sansevieria are ideal because they are shorter and will not obstruct your view of outdoors.
