Inductees for the 2012 Texas Golf Hall of Fame announced
The names of the people who will be added to the 2012 Texas Golf Hall of Fame have been announced. They include golf players and others personalities associated with the sport. The induction ceremony will be held on October 22, at San Antonio Country Club.
The three-time Texas Open winner, Justin Leonard, has made it to the list. He has a total of 12 PGA Tour wins registered under his name, including a victory in the 1997 British Open Championship. He also represented the US Ryder Cup team thrice in his career.
On the other hand, late Sam Goldfarb, will be honoured for his great contributions to the game. He was San Antonio Golf Association’s President in the 1940’s and the 50’s.
In addition to that, he also chaired Texas State Junior events in the final years of his career as a President of the association.
Both Leonard and Goldfarb, along with Robert Dedman Sr., founder of Club Corp of America, will be added to the Pioneer category.
Charlie Epps and David Price will be added to the club professional category. Epps, who is also known as "Golf Doctor", is the director of golf at Redstone Golf Club, while Price is a Dallas club professional.
"If you had asked me if I would have ever gotten into the Texas Golf Hall of Fame from where I started, I would have told you there was no way," said Epps, who also had stints at Houston Country Club, Pine Forest Country Club and Columbia Lakes.
"Houston golf has always been good to me since moving here in 1973, and I'm certainly proud and amazed to receive this great honour".
Other personalities who made it to the list include amateur John Grace. He played on the Champions Tour. Mina Hardin, the winner of the 2010 US Senior Women Amateur is also among the honourees.
In the meantime, the Champions Golf Club will also be honoured by being inducted into the Texas Registry of Historic Golf courses.
The previous inductees in the register include Brаckenridge Park, Brook Hollow Golf Club, Dallas' Cedаr Crest Golf Course and Ft. Wоrth's Colonial Country Club.
