Indulging http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Chinnadupargea-Sachin-c50607 Tendulkar into politics is the ‘Dirty Picture’ of Congress – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Tendulkar-c2556, has made it clear that he will never quit the game of cricket for the sake of a political career. However, some of the opposition parties in India have slammed Congress for using Tendulkar’s name for political
gains.
Tendulkar, who is considered to be one of the greatest batsmen of all-times, was nominated as a Member of Parliament last week. The Little-Master accepted the offer made by the Prime Minister, Mahmohan Singh and it was also approved by the President, Pratibha
Patil.
Some of the cricketing ranks have expressed their surprise over Sachin’s decision as they believe that the legendary batsman should contribute towards the game of cricket, which has been his forte for more than two decades now.
However, Sachin has made it clear that he will never sacrifice his cricket career for the sake of politics and nothing in this world can erase the love for the game in his heart.
“I have been nominated because I am a sportsman and not a politician. I am a sportsman and will always remain one. I am not going to enter politics giving up cricket, which is my life. I will continue to play cricket,” said Tendulkar.
On the other side of the coin, India’s controversial political party, Shiv Sena has slammed the decision of Congress to indulge the great batsman in politics. Shiv Sena’s chief, Bal Thackeray feels that Congress is using the name of Sachin to hide its corruption.
“It is Congress' dirtiest play. The real ‘Dirty Picture’ is this,” said Thackeray.
Apart from that, a newspaper, Saamna, which has the backing of Shiv Sena, has also criticized the decision of congress and expressed in an editorial that people of India want to see Sachin in a very honourable position, which should be higher than that of
a Member of Parliament.
It stated, “Crores of Sachin’s fans would have liked to call him 'Bharat Ratna Sachin Tendulkar'. Alas, he will now only be 'Sachin Tendulkar, MP'.”
Shiv Sena’s stance on this issue is not surprising because of its political differences with the ruling party of the country. Bal Thackeray and company have been involved in such controversies in past as well.
