  1. If you want to go into industrial sociology, you need to find a sociology department that specializes in industrial sociology. It will not be enough to simply go to a school with a sociology department if they do not have faculty who specialize in this area.

What you are describing is a sub-field of sociology that can be great to work in as long as you know the right people to help you land a job.  Consider the fact that the college experience is more than just academics, it gives students opportunities to network and find mentors. I strongly recommend that you choose a school that has all of these factors.  If you find a school with this specialization, go there and meet the students and faculty. Ask yourself, do I fit in here?  Will I be comfortable here? Will people take an interest in me and my goals of becoming an industrial sociologist?  These questions are very important. Make sure you answer them.

As far as how long it will take you to do this, I would say 6 years full-time.  These days, most sociologists have advanced degrees especially those who do consulting like industrial sociologists. So you will have to go get a bachelor's degree and a master's degree.  You do not necessarily have to get both degrees in sociology. It may be helpful to get one degree in business or manufacturing and the other in sociology. Talk to the faculty about that, not academic advisors. Academic advisors are good for giving you general advice about classes, scheduling and so on. However, you need someone in the field of sociology to advise you about degree choices based upon what you have stated here. I hope this helps. Best of luck!

  2. like the last guy, I'll say anything to asnwer, even though I have no idea what it stands for.

  3. I  am glad to know that college is on your agenda, although I don't know you, but don't seem like you know what it is you would like to do in life. First off I don't know a thing about Industrial Sociology but if I were thinking about doing this I would have researched it thoroughly myself first. Then maybe after having some idea that relate to this field maybe ask questions that you don't understand. Come on know this is your future. Well anyway I hope that someone could help you out. If not please go to one the schools and get some literature or go on line and get some more information. Good luck!
