Indy De Vroome drills through Risa Ozaki in Girls’ Singles 3rd round – Wimbledon Championships 2011
Netherlands’ Indy De Vroome crushed Japanese Risa Ozaki with a bagel and a breadstick at Girls’ Singles – Wimbledon Championships 2011, third of the fourth Grand Slam event held on the grass courts in London, England. She barely
dripped to registered outstanding 6-0, 6-1 score line and secured a last eight spot on Thursday.
The Dutch bombarded backhand slices from her arsenal of skills to destroy Ozaki in under an hour at All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club. She hardly faced any bump by the Japanese and eventually breezed into the quarter-finals
of this major event.
Vroome went berserk in the opening set as she unleashed her skills and abilities to outclass the Japanese completely at Court Sixteen. The Dutch girl saved the only breakpoint faced and converted three out of four breakpoint opportunities
to her advantage. She slammed ten winners to reel off all six games in a row and eventually pocket a bagel in just twenty-six minutes. Despite producing a poor first serve share of 39 percent, she registered a spectacular 89 percent win on it.
The blooming Dutch carried her winning ways into the final set and wiped out his serves without facing any threat or a breakpoint. She then converted three out of seven breakpoint opportunities to her advantage to bag a breadstick
in half hour. Vroome clobbered a better first serve share this time i.e. 53 percent as opposed to Ozaki’s 46 percent and earned a fabulous 75 percent win on it. She again spiced the set by hammering ten winners and committing less unforced errors.
Vroome is in awesome form at SW-19 and has yet to lose a set. She trashed Ukrainian Ganna Poznikhirenko and Belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovich in straights in the first two rounds to reach this spot.
Ozaki on the other hand had a good run of form in this event. She displayed nerves of steel to upset fourth seeded wild card entrant, Tunisian Ons Jabeur in her opening round match. The Japanese then rallied past British qualifier
Ruth Seaborne in a three setter match to face the Dutch.
Up next for Vroome is the seventh seeded Russian Yulia Putintseva who made a comeback victory against Croat Donna Vekic.
The Russian was trailing a set when she re-structured her strategy to seal the match with a 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 score line.
