Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma, who will take first position- Dario Franchitti or Scott Dixon
The IZOD IndyCar Series this weekend is taking place at the Infineon Raceway for the Prix of Sonoma. Though one of the top drivers, Will Power who has had his share of glory by already winning the Mario Andretti Trophy but according to the experts this extremely talented and now a champion driver still has some unfinished business when he will come on track this weekend.
Last year saw this champion finish in a very unfamiliar way, when he was involved in a major accident that saw him crash with Nelson Philippe that sidelined him for a couple of months and also the aftermath of the crash saw him fracture two of his back vertebrae. Except from his crash last season at this Raceway, the rest of the season was one which could be regarded by the team owner Roger Penski, as one which was fruitful.
Though some reports and experts said that Roger was taking a risk by signing the Australian for a full season after he crashed out last year but all this proved to be wrong. Will Power, on his return came up with extravagant result by winning the opening two races of the seasons and proved that Roger’s risk was worth taking. Out of the eight road courses that this phenomenal driver has run in, he hasn’t finished worse than fourth position during this year that makes him one of the best and consistent drivers in the IndyCar.
Reports and experts still are not in much favour of Will Power being on championship course, even though he heads the overall settings by 41 points. Experts say a victory lap here seems difficult as last year, Dario Franchitti the 2009 champion won the race with total dominance and splendid performance by leading the race throughout and winning starting from pole position.
Dario Franchitti, last year’s race winner, the champion was able to put up quite a show this practise session, and the two drivers were jumping up and down the first place fighting a battle of their own with the rest of the pack also joining in. The next 16 drivers also drove an extravagant qualifying in which they managed to post up times within one second of the Franchitti’s time. Scott Dixon and Justin Wilson completed the top five drivers’ bracket with the time near to the 78.297 seconds.
The qualifying saw J.R. Hilderbrand, a rookie who topped the session with an impressive 13th position. Hilderbrand is filling in the position of the injured last year 3rd position man Mike Conway. The rookie is looking for a bright weekend and hopes that he would finish where his teammate finished last season and look and become the regulars on the scene.
Without further delay let’s see what the experts have to say about how the race would unfold and what would be the result at the end. The experts believe that Will Power is expected to finish in 3rd position. Not going for a win experts say that Will has never managed to get a better position than 23rd on the track and is expected to improve as far as the third position.
Ryan Biscoe is expected to finish in second position, as in 2008 he started in 2nd position and finished second. Then last year again starting second, he finished second and experts say that this trend is expected to continue.
However, the first position is one which the experts were unable to figure out and said that it’s either going to be Dario Franchitti or Scott Dixon, as they both need good finishes this weekend. Scott has good form coming into the race and Franchitti has a last year’s race, where he totally dominated the proceeding without any trouble from the rest of the drivers.
The experts also said that the first person to crash out of the race would be Mario Moraes, with his recent trouble in controlling his car and this time too is expected to crash out.
