  1. There are many places in Singapore Orchard Road areas where you can get good inexpensive food. Try the Food Court at Takashimaya, Centerpoint, Plaza Singapura. There are also smaller restaurant where they serve sushi (Sakae Sushi) at Heeren. Try it..

  2. go to the hawker stalls at wisma or ngee ann   city  or lucky plaza. if you want restaurant foods, try crystal jade ...

  3. I'm a Japanese food junkie so I'd opt for Sakae Sushi (not fantastic, but affordable), Ajisen Ramen (pretty good ramen but prepare water, it's MSG-loaded!), TCC (not quite jappy, but fusion no less & no they don't just serve coffee!), Sushi Tei (a little price-ier but not if you select the cheaper range)...

If you can travel a little off Orchard Rd, there is the newly opened kareben j*p curry place at Bali Lane (near Bugis), or for really good ramen, try Marutama at Central Mall (Clarke Quay).

    Enjoy!

  4. Restaurants within that budget range? The only one I can think of is Ramen Ten at Far East Plaza.

If you like Indonesian food, I recommend the ayam penyet (smashed chicken) restaurants that are aplenty in Lucky Plaza. I prefer the one on the fourth floor though. :)

  5. Hello Trestle,

If this is your first visit to Singapore, I recommend the open air markets. You can try a small portion of several different local foods and beer. You get to wander around and experience more of Singapore; and it is in your budget.

Restaurants are much the same world wide. If you really want to go to a restaurant, then decide in advance what you want to eat and find one that does that great.

People have recommended the Mandarin hotel restaurant and it is a fine dining experience. However I think it will stretch your budget of 15-25$. Some one suggested the Lucky Plaza and that is a good place and within your budget, but it sounds like you are looking for something more formal.

I recommend you visit the Mandarin Hotel. the Lucky Plaza, and then the open air market and decide. All three are worthy of a visit for the visual effect even if you don;t dine at any of them. I once saw a life sized goddess craved from butter in the Mandarin lobby!

Good luck and let us know where you dined and how you liked it.

  6. Try Far East Plaza.... They have Sakura ( Thai-muslim ) restaurant ...How about Lucky Plaza on the fourth and sixth floor, they have eating places that are good and cheap....

  7. Mandarin Hotel in Orchard area.  The restaurant is just located at the ground floor.  The Hainanese chicken is the best
