Inexpensive activities in Connecticut?

Question

Does anyone have any suggestions what a young family can do for day trips in Connecticut. My husband and I have a 1 year old and she is very interested in anything and everything. I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what activities we can do... I didn't no if people out there may no of little farms or something cheap and fun out there... thanks! :)

She (and you) might enjoy the scenic cruise of the Thimble Islands in the town of Branford, just east of New Haven. (Links below)

In New Haven, Yale University has two terrific art museums on Chapel Street, the Yale Art Gallery and the British Art Center, that are free, but probably not really geared to a one-year-old. ;-)
