Inexpensive anniversary ideas in and around the seattle area?

my boyfriend, actually ex-fiance, and i have an anniversary coming up in january. we've gone through some rough patches lately and i'm looking to do something really fun and romantic but not too expensive. we've lived in the area for a long time now so i don't want to do the normal sightseeing things.

that's a tuff one since in January the weather can be harsh, but look into a round trip on the clipper. That time of yr it won't be as expensive. You can go to Canada or to San Juan to whale watch

If you like the outdoors, look into going up to the mountains to ski or tubing. If that's not your thing go up there for dinner at the resorts

My wife and I have a very enjoyable time renting a tandem sea kayak, packing a lunch and paddling to the arboretum from Lake Union. Gasworks park is much closer and you don't have to navigate the Mountlake Cut. There was a Cuban restaurant near the I5 bridge that had a dock that we tied up to once, but I don't think it's there any longer. There is the Northlake Tavern and Daniel's and Duke's on the south end of Lake Union.

It's also a good "team building" exercise. I recommend a tandem because they are faster and you both don't have to paddle.

On a budget, Washington State Parks has a lot of rental places (the yurts have space heaters) that can keep you warm on those cool January nights. My family and I have used them year round.

It's a great way to get into the great outdoors with out totally "roughing it"

if you could i would do salish lodge at snoqualmie falls.

but i m not saying thats the cheapest you could get.
