  1. Vitamin A is key to both infant eyesight and vision development over the years. Between the ages of 0-3, your baby needs a nutritious meal containing 400 mcg of Vitamin A.

That requirement rises to 500 mcg between ages 4-6, and up to 800 mcg between ages 7-10. If your baby has light-colored eyes, use UV-coated protection while taking him (or her) outdoors.

  2. Carrots. My mom always told me that carrots would make me have "shiney" eyes. So I ate tons of carrots and I think it ended up helping, but just be careful, my sisters REALLY ate tons of carrots and she turned orange, but it was like a really pretty golden tan colored orange. Talk to your optometrist and see.

  3. You can wash them in lukewarm salty water, but their eyes are protected anyway, just like ours.  Healthy balanced eating helps too

  4. Lots of big floppy hats to keep the sun out, then sunglasses when age appropriate.  Make sure once they have stopped nursing/formula, they get plenty of healthy veggies!

  5. As the first answer stated, as well as sunnies when in the sun, no matter what the age.

My kids started wearing sunnies in the son at a few months old :)
