Question:

Infant seat vs convertible seat?

I am registering this weekend and my biggest worry is picking the correct infant seat. I have read many reports and blogs and am wanting your opinion.

1. Which infant seat would you recommend? I am wanting something that I can also use in a stroller and can purchase an additional base for.

2. Would you even recommend an infant car seat or would you say skip that and choose a convertible seat instead (in which case, which would you recommend) and just use a carrier like a ringsling, moby or maya wrap?

I am so very confused on the whole thing....

  1. Some hospitals wont let you leave with the convertible. you can use them with newborns but it isn't recommended. Graco is a pretty good brand for infant seats or babytrend is also a good brand. I recommend getting a travel system. It comes with the infant seat one base and stroller. Graco has some really cute prints also. Extra bases can also be purchased for about 30-50 dollars depending on which brand you go with. Good luck. Add more details if you have anymore questions i might be able to answer

  2. Graco Snug ride.  Then buy an car seat stroller and you can attach the car seat directly to the stroller.

Pick up this book available from Amazon or maybe your local library.

It'll save you a bundle and you won't end up with garbage

  3. infant seats are sooo much better than the convertable seats.  you cant carry the convertable carseat around...or do you want to carry your infant everywhere?? i dont think so with the infant seat you can unhook it and sit it in the cart or carry it.  they are easy to install and you can buy bases to switch them out in cars. its nice on a cold day too bc you can bundle them up in the car and just cover them up and carry them whereever!!

a convertable seat is akward rear facing and is the biggest pain to install!!!!! and infants look really uncomfortable in it too

i prefer the infant seat for convience and for the comfort of the baby

I like the graco snugride for infant carseats

but for convertible i like the britax.

    hope i helped!!

  4. I would recommend a convertible seat, a Britax is best. And then I would use a wrap or carrier. Baby will be happier being carried by you, and those Graco infants seats really aren't that safe.

  5. Most hospitals won' t let you leave unless you have a infant seat.  Graco makes some womnderful travel sets, and you can buy extra bases for them.  I researched them all...found that Graco had no problems...Safety First brand had a lot of recalls.
