Question:

Infected Pierced Ear Help?

I recently got my ears pierced like a week ago for the second time (the first time didn't work out too well either). Within a day of getting my ears pierced one of them started to bother me-the same one as last time i got me ears pierced 4 years ago. Its a little swollen and red-not noticeable though unless you really look at it. Is it possible to be allergic to the earring in one ear but not the other? I'm cleaning it well using the ear cleaning antiseptic (the one they give you at Claire's) 3 times a day and also using neosporin-i have the 14k gold april birthstone studs. Oh and taking them out is not an option! Help?

  1. You may have a nickel sensitivity.  If you can get titanium ear studs that may help.

  2. I worked at Claire's for two years and dealt with a lot of ear piercings and infections! The best advice I can give you is to just make sure you keep cleaning the ears with the antiseptic at least 2 to 3 times a day. When you clean use a Q-tip or a cotton ball and clean both the front and the back. Also, while cleaning, make sure to twist the back and front of the earring. Hope everything works out! :)
