I got my nose pierced about 5 weeks ago and im having some problems, my nose piercing hole looks ALOT bigger then it was a few weeks ago, its all red and puffy looking and it bleeds.. nother thing i noticed is that on the inside of my nose pericing there is a bump.. its been there for about 2 weeks now.. ive been doing sea salt soaks since the beggining of day 1 and i really dont know what im doing wrong. Im going to the doctor soon "just in case" its infected.. im really worried and im so fed up right now i want to take it out.. my nose ring fell out a few times and i put it back in with no trouble.. the bump is so big that i can hardly see the bottom of my nose piercing.. my mom says its fine and yady dady dah but i dont think so at all.. it looks nasty!

another thing is that i have allergies in the morning and blowing my nose IS a constant thing when i wake up.. is thats whats causing all of this??

  1. i had this problem with my navel and lip ring, yes it is an infection, and it could be because of you blowing your nose constantly- best advice go to the piercer and ask them what you should do- if they dont know go to your doctor, its too close to your sinuses to let it wait out

  2. Ya this is fairly normal. It could be irritation from blowing your nose. I can't remember what those bumps are called, but they aren't uncommon. Something I find that helps is soak a cotton ball in the saline solution and just hold it to your nose for a few minutes. Did you get your nose pierced with a gun or a needle? Piercing guns are unsanitary. I've also heard a few cases where people get their nose pierced and the technician puts an ear stud in the nose instead of a nose stud. Make sure you are only wearing nose studs and rings, not earrings.

Also (and this might sound gross) but you need to clean the inside of the ring (is this a ring or a stud?)

If its a stud, simply twist it so that the part that sticks into your nose is sticking out of your nose and clean any snot (yes eew) off of it with the saline solution. you only really need to do this once a week unless your allergies are causing a lot of mucus buildup.

Something that will help a lot: don't touch and fiddle with it. and sleep on your other side so that it doesn't rub against the pillow.

If it is a stud, something that might help it heal is switching it to a ring as this will let the skin breathe more (but I suggest you have it professionally changed at a piercing parlor)

  3. DO NO take it out until you find out what it wrong..

IF there is an real infection then taking it out will make the infection worse..

  4. I would just take it out!
