Question:

Infestation of ants and blow flies in my cordyline palm?

How do I get rid of ants and blow flies which are all over my cordyline palm. I've had the plant outdoors for about 4 years. The ants have been there for about a year but the palm is still growing fine. I decided to try to get rid of the infestation and have tried to get rid by using a hose to clear away the existing soil and was thinking of just repotting in new soil. Will this work or should I just throw it away? Any advice would be great as I am not a very good gardener! :o)

  1. When you replant in clean soil put a piece of landscaping fabric in the bottom of the pot. This will stop the ants being able to nest in the soil but still allow for drainage.

Not sure what you can do about the flies...sorry.
