  1. Apply one of any number of insect killers (Sevin works particularly well).  To help over the long term, they make Japanese Beetle traps that work fantastically well, but they are not a quick fix.  They are a bag with a pheromone that attracts the beetles. The beetles fall into the bag and can't escape.  I have seen them so full of beetles before that the bag almost came apart from the weight.  I added a couple of links to help you out.

  2. Hand pick them, put them in a bucket of soapy water, and spray the flowers with soapy water. Do this in the evenings, they are less active. I have been doing this for my roses. within a couple of days i noticed a difference.

    good luck

  3. Have them sing Re All Rive in a Rerro Submarine, a Rerro Submarine!

  4. ok the things that ive found useful to protect my garden is the spray type of bug infectant.The only thing to this your plants must be mature(fully grown or almost fully grown),and your plants must be well watered.Other than this,i find this one of the best and effective thing to use.

  5. I agree with rm, and I love that most people don't want to use pesticides. They say that if they are used properly they don't do any damage. But;

    Birds are the natural enemy to the Japanese beetle and other bugs we are trying to get rid of, they eat the infected bugs and die.

    I pick them off too, drop them into soapy water. A couple of years ago I had hundreds of Japanese beetles this year so far I only had a few.

  6. I have the same problem with Japanese Beetles on my plants.  I use Ortho Bug B Gone Max in the red containers.  It works well on Japanese Beetles and if you spray it every few weeks they will stay off the plants.  You can also start spraying it before Japanese Beetle season and the beetles will stay away from the plants and you won't have any damage.  Heres a link to ortho's site so you know what the product looks like

    this is available and any garden center or home improvement store

  7. Sevin and other pesticides are being linked to a disease killing honeybees. It is called Colony Collapse Disorder. It is thought that the exposure to pesticides is lowering the resistance to fungal and viral diseases in honeybees, which can kill whole hives in just days.

    Japanese beetles are not going to go away. There is a product that you can use in the early spring and in late fall to control the Japanese Beetle grubs that are under your lawn. It is a biological that targets ONLY Japanese Beetle grubs. I have included a site with info.

    Chemical pesticides are dangerous to humans, pets and the environment. Honeybees pollinate almost 90% of our fruit and vegetable crops. If we lose honeybees, we lose our food.

    I am in college studying for a degree in Horticulture, and I can tell you, the agricultural industry is TRULY worried about the honeybees. There is no hard and fast evidence of what is killing them off, so no one knows how to cure them.

    I am including the site for the Japanese Beetle biological, and also info on Colony Collapse Disease.
