Infielder Miguel Tejada considers playing again for Oakland Athletics – MLB News
The former San Francisco Giants’ infielder Miguel Tejada is showing great desire for playing in the Oakland Athletics’ roster again where he played from 1997 to 2003.
The 2002 American League Most Valuable Player, Tejada is highly regarded as one of the best in the League. His 15 years of experience and consistent stats are the main factors as any team in the League at the moment can sign him. Last year on some several long term contract issues with the Giants, Tejada pulled out from the given deal while the management also released him late in the offseason.
Now sources, who have speculated in the media as Tejada is showing some great interest of playing again in the Oakland Athletics, are also spreading some rumours about the potential talks of Athletics’ management and Tejada’s agent. On the other hand, no one from both sides has confirmed these potential talks, however Tejada himself has stated in the media explaining some important things about his desire to play in the A’s franchise again.
"I've always had a lot of love for the A's," Tejada told the media by phone. "I still have friends there. That's my family. I want to finish my career there. It would be great to put that uniform on again. That organization gave me a start when I was a little kid in the Dominican; they opened the doors for me. Tell Billy to give me a call, I don't want big money, I just want to play. I want to prove I can play. And for me to come back to where I started would be unbelievable."
Experts believe that this is a good sign for the Athletics if their one of former players is interested to play again for the club. This will no doubt enhance the productivity of the team in the next season.
Tejada, who has played for five different teams in the League, possesses huge skills. Played for the Baltimore Orioles along with Houston Astros, San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants, Tejada has proved his game wherever he went. Now since he wants to play again for the franchise from where he started his career, is certainly a very good sign for the Oakland Athletics and also for his own game.
