Question:

Inflamed Lymph Nodes in Neck?

I recently had an ultrasound done on the left side of my neck to look at my lymph nodes. They found slight swelling and inflammation. I was told my body is probably just fighting off something, an infection of some sort. I have had tenderness and swelling for over 2 months now. I don't feel ill and I have not been sick, so when they tell me it could be an infection, it scares me. Can you have an infection with no symptoms?? My thyroid has been checked, blood work. Everything is normal. I'm seeing the doctor again and I'm hoping I can get some answers!!

Has anyone experienced this, what has your doctor told you caused this? My husband seems to think it could be related to all of the muscle tension and soreness I experience quite often on my left shoulder, chest, and back. Could it be?

  1. What they told you is true. As we age there is a higher risk of lymphoma, so you might want to be checked for this. Unless there is something that shows up on a blood or culture test I wouldn't over worry about it. However, I think it would be wise to have it checked out every time you have a check up(just to be safe).
