  1. False.  Inflammation can damage human tissues, and in cases of prolonged inflammation (chronic inflammation) it also delays/prevents the tissue repair process.

    A simple example of the damaging potential of inflammation is meningitis.  This serious illness is caused by inflammation of the lining of the brain (the meninges), causing swelling.  Because the brain is encased in a rigid box (the skull) that can't expand to accommodate this swelling, the brain tissue is compressed instead, which is extremely dangerous and often fatal.
