Question:

Inflatable kayak?

What is a good brand or type of inflatable boat/kayak to buy for under $400? It will be used on lakes and slow rivers, nothing fancy at all. I'm not looking for anything too nice, just something to have fun with.

  1. I own an inflatable kayak and I have a love hate relationship with it. It's not as good looking as a regular hardshell kayak and it is a lot harder to paddle around in a lake with it. Although, it's a ton of fun over rapids and is convenient to keep in the back of my Jeep for spur of the moment paddling adventures.

this is my kayak: it's a great quality inflatable for the price, apparently they've taken it down the Amazon river on expeditions and stuff. I found mine on eBay for 60 bucks...so you should definitely do some searching around.

*and if you do buy this kayak...i would recommend buying a skeg for it, it helps the kayak track better in the water.

However, because I currently don't have enough storage space for a hardshell kayak, I am glad that I can just take the 11ft inflatable kayak and fold up it/roll up a few times into the size of a sleeping bag.

But considering the max you'll want to spend is $400 I would recommend going to Academy's or any other sporting store and buy a hardshell! You can definitely find a lot of good ones for under $300. I really like the Pelican Pursuit 100 Kayak,  it is a very good beginners kayak and I am considering buying it soon.

hope I was able to help out a bit!
