why are the middle classes the category most affected by inflation?

  1. Who said they are.

    Believe me its tougher for a poor family to afford milk at 5 dollars a gallon than a middle class family.

    The problem is one of perceptions. Politicians pay greater lip-service to the middle class.


  2. I don't think they are necessarily. There seems little reaosn that they should be.

    My bet would be that the poorest people will be affected most by inflation.

  3. The middle class is different form the poor in that they are likely to own houses with mortgages and from the rich in that they have only a small amount of their wealth in financial assets. In general inflation helps debtors and hurts creditors because loans are paid back with "cheaper" dollars.
