Does ice cream roll cake relte to France? LIke are they eaten in France? I need to know for my projcet and one website said that its a popular treat in France around Christmas. So please help

  1. In France, around Christmas, I know that people eat la bûche de Noël (the Christmas log) which is a cake made with chocolate and chestnuts.  But I've never heard of an ice cram cake being eaten over there before =]

I don't know what you call "ice cream roll cake" but the traditional bûche de Noël mentioned above can be made of ice-cream or sorbet for a leaner alternative to the original recipe (this new version started getting popular in the early 80's and is still very popular). It is then called a "Bûche glacée":

    EDIT: OK I just found recipes and pictures of the cake you mention and no, it doesn't exist as described in France because the bûche glacée is not normally made with rolled sponge cake and the traditional bûche de Noël is made with rolled sponge cake but is not filled with ice-cream. But it  does look similar even though the recipe is different.
