Ummm.. not exactly sure what you&#039;re asking, but my friend and I backpacked through Belize and into Guatamala.  Public transportation (busses) were good.  My favorite place we stayed was at Maya Mountain Lodge, link attached.

I&#039;ve been to Costa Rica, not backpacking though, but I would definitely do it.  That whole area of Central America rocks, the food is awesome, people are friendly and speak english, and the scenery/jungle is AMAZING!

In colombia look up Villa de Leyva.  Its a safe area with mountains, desert and a lot of hiking and eco tour stuff.
