  1. cockatiels are social animals so you might want to get 2 or have lots of toys in there for them. or make sure you have time to interact with them at least 30 mins a day if you want it hand trained. make sure where ever you have it that its not to cold or else they will die. thats what happened to one of mine.

  2. cockatiels make delightful pets but if you want it to be pet only get one!

they have great personalities and each one is different, please get a good book and read up on them BEFORE you get one, it will make owning and caring for one much easier for the bird and for you

  3. cockatielcottage.com

  5. I got a cockatiel two years go as a pet :]. It was my first one too! They're pretty easy to take care of; sort of like a parakeet. They can't really talk, mine learned how to wolf whistle though [that whistle people do to attract someone, hah]. Feeding; just buy some pellets and they love it. They like something else too but I forgot the name, you can get it at PetCo. I also gave Carlos [my cockatiel] food balls that I got at Walmart for Christmas and he loved them. Cage; you should have a slider tray under your cage that came with it. Just fill it with newspaper and remove the newspaper once a week. About once a month clean the inside of the cage, where the  bars and toys are and stuff. Care; they're easy to care for and so nice! You can hold them once they just used to it, just make sure you let him perch they don't like to actually be held. Molting; my bird has never molted and I had him for around a year before I had to give him away :[.

Good luck! Any questions email me!

  6. Cage:They should have a 18x18x18x18 cage

Toys: At least 2 cockatiel toys. They like shredders

Feeding: Color-free ethoxyquin-free pelleted feed supplemented with fruits, vegetables, and some seed.

Molting: they'll make a big mess

Cage: clean once a week. throw out old newspaper, scrub down with hot water, put in new newspaper. Cage cleaning is probably the third most vital aspect of tiel care. Dirty cages are heaven for deadly bacteria, mites, and viruses.
