I am considering taking my boat out to Moses Lake to fish this weekend. I would like to know if there is a closer boat launch than launching from the texas city d**e. And if so the name of the bait camp or marina where i can launch.Additionally I would like to know the do's and dont's for this area such as where not to anchor, or if there is a high risk of sandbars and things of that nature. I am trying to learn new areas to fish in Galveston bay and just would like to go about it as safe as possible.

  1. You can try the marina in San Leon. I forget what it is called but if you are traveling from 45 south you can exit Hwy 646 to Bacliff. After you pass Hwy 146 you will travel until the road ends and make a right. After traveling about 10 miles where the road ends again you will see the marina to the left.

Travel slowly during the low tides especially if you plan on entering the floodgate. Try to keep at least 50 yards distance from other boats.

    Good luck
