Watch and research the classic film: Citizen Kane directed by Orson Wells. Explain why this movie was deemed to break the stylistic conventions of the run-of-the-mill classical Hollywood cinema. What risks did Wells take by writing, producing and creating this movie at the time?

I don't understand any of this if someone could help me...

  1. Why don't you film students ever do your own homework?

  2. The answer above me pretty much explains what made Citizen Kane such a classic, but if you want to learn more info about it, watch the movie "RKO 281", starring Liev Shreiber which details the making of "Kane".  It should a little light on your question.

  3. It was a huge risk because it basically outlined the life of William Randolph Hearst, who owned a powerful publishing empire, including scores of daily newspapers in the US.  Hearst unsuccessfully applied enormous pressure to try to get the release of the film stopped.

It broke with convention by using strange camera angles and lighting... glamorized and mocked a long-time affair Hearst had with an actress (Marion Davies), ridiculed the character's temper and unsuccessful runs at public office,

Orson Welles wrote, directed and acted in this movie....

Sorry that's all I can think of right now.... I read the Hearst biography recently and those are the facts I can remember...
