  1. When they're puppies, they get four rounds of three shots every 3-4 weeks, from the time they're about 6-8 weeks old or so. This varies from vet to vet but for my puppy, we've been getting bills of about $192 for the three shots.

Many people do yearly boosters. I know where I live, the town kind of requires yearly rabies boosters even though rabies vaccines last for longer than a year. (three, I think - correct me if I'm wrong?)

This is really a question to ask local vets.

  2. Puppies need a rabies shot and 2 or 3 P/B shots.  Then they need to have a Rabies booster at 1 year, then its like every 3 years.  They need a yearly P/B booster maybe.  There have been a lot of recent studies that show after a dog takes to the Parvo/Bordella shot it does not need a booster as often as originally thought so a lot of vets are not doing it yearly anymore.  The shots are cheap, you can order them online and do them your self for less then $10 a shot but most vets do not charge much more then that.  They usually get you with an "exam" fee that you have to pay every time you go to get a shot.  That can be anywhere between $40 and $60.  There are spay/nueter clincs though in every state that do vaccines without charging you an exam fee.  Now if you do this you get the shots, but you do not get a Dr that exams your puppy.  So you could miss an elevated temperature, deydration, heart murmurs, lung problems, and other health problems that can be found during a vet exam.  If money is an issue I would take your pup to the vet for his first shots and get a good exam then go to the spay/neuter clinic for the rest of the puppy shots.  Then at a year old go back to the vet for the booster shots.  Also, depending on where you live another cost could be hear worm prevention medication.  I personally would recomend it regaurdless of where you live but there are people out there that dont do it if they are in a low risk area.  Depending on the weight of your dog this can cost you anywhere from $25 to $100 a year.  You will also need to pay for a fecal worm test on the first visit to the vet, this is around $25.  Hope I got to all the questions you wanted answered, if you need more info just ask.
