Inform New Jersey Devils play host to San Jose Sharks
New Jersey Devils will be hosting the San Jose Sharks in what will be the second and final meeting between the two sides during the course of the season. The last time these two met on the 27th of October 2010, San Jose Sharks won the game 5-2
easily.
Joe Thornton, Captain of the San Jose Sharks was on top of his game and scored a brilliant hat-trick and made to assists scoring five points in the game which is splendid. As both the teams are set to clash with each other, there is an air of anticipation
that it is going to be a very tough and entertaining encounter.
San Jose Sharks have remarkably improved and on the current road trip have won four out four in regulation time. In their last game against the Columbus Blue Jackets this Wednesday, the Sharks came up with a decent performance in a game where the Blue Jackets
were on top.
However, they won the game 3-2 in the end. San Jose Sharks have won nine out of their last ten games and all in regulation and lost one. This streak comes after a poor run which saw then losing six consecutive games. New Jersey Devils on the other were facing
tough completion in Toronto Maple Leafs this Thursday. The Devils managed to win the game 2-1 in overtime and improved their chances of making it into their 14th consecutive play-offs after one of the most disastrous season in their history.
New Jersey Devils have scored at least a point in 12 out of their last 14 games which include 11 regulation time wins. Though the Devils Head Coach, Jacques Lemaire hasn’t been particularly keen talking about play-offs but the story is too much hyped up
considering the fact that Devils haven’t missed the last 13 straight play-offs and this season chances are still difficult.
The interesting thing about the New Jersey Devils ahead of their pursuit of the play-offs is the fact that they have completely outscored their opponents over the past 14 games 46-27. Out of these the highest goals in a game they have conceded are four which
saw them losing the game 4-3 but that was back on the 4th of February.
"I still don't think about the playoffs," said Lemaire, "Wait until it gets to two points. Then I'll talk to you about it, if we get there."
Both teams have played 55 games in the season so far with New Jersey Devils winning 21 games in regulation time, 4 games in overtime and scored 46 points. On the contrary, San Jose Sharks have won 30 out of their 55 games in regulation time, 6 games in overtime
and scored 66 points.
San Jose Sharks were up against the Columbus Blue Jackets in their last game which they won 2-0 in the end after a slow start. This was the Sharks fifth consecutive win after the All-Star weekend. Not only this, but they have scored 18 goals in the last
10 games which shows their strength upfront.
"The first period we weren't alert, we didn't have our legs underneath us and we weren't very competitive," coach Todd McLellan said of the win at Columbus. "To come back was a nice thing."
The game is surely going to be exciting with San Jose Sharks strong on paper but Devils with the added determination of finding a place in the play-offs to maintain the strong history they have of making it into the play-offs.
