Question

I really want a lip piercing nd I'm 13. Now wait ok? I am no way going to get it now alright! My mother would never let me. I want to do research now becuase for 1 im bored, 2 school starts soon and then I wont have time and 3 next summer I'll be gone all summer to this scholorship program or something thats boring but will look good on my college aplication (yes I'm already thinking about college) so ya.

Tell me everything u know about any lip piercing at all, I'm leaning toward uh a labret I think, the one that like when u get two of them it is snakebites so I can wear a stud in it and a ring if I want. Plz tell me every lip piercing there is and how to care for it or anything else or a link would help thanks!

oh ya nd I am not going to get it now for another reason witch is idk when I get older if Ill still want it then there will always be a tiny scar!

I have a lip piercing off to the side and i had a labret at one point.  The problem with the labret is that the inside flat backing can cause your gums to wear down around your bottom teeth.  A lip ring can cause separation of your teeth; however I have not had this happen.  The care for both piercings is the same- you need to rinse every time you smoke/eat/drink to clean irritants from the inside of your mouth [preferably with an alcohol free mouthwash to avoid the drying to the mucosa in the mouth], as well as bactine and clear antibacterial soap [such as Softsoap] for the outside of the piercing.  

Neither of them hurt more than the other for me, but the labret was a pain to heal and I had problems with it constantly.  Check out bmezine.com for information and pictures, as well as stories.

lip, eyebrow, cheek, nose piercings, are ugly.  Most places you would want to work will not allow such piercings for the job.  

why pay for a piercing that people will make you remove to work?  do you really want to take a chance on ripping your lip apart on a piercing?  

you need to wait till you are older to even considering getting it.  

IMO, those kind of piercings are for freak shows and people who never intend to work.  OH yes, that includes tounge piercings.
