Information about London..?

I am totally dying to go to London.. I think it is so interesting the history of the city and how it's one of the business capitals of the world. I want to live in the city and take in the culture and the London way of life.. it is all so fascinating to me, moreso than any other city in the world. I've thought about studying abroad, but I'm afraid I will spend so much time on my studies and not really get to experience life as it would normally be while I'm there. Can anyone tell me anything about London.. if it's fast-paced or everyone's relaxed or what.. I just want to know anything and everything about it.. I think I might want to live there one day to experience it! Thanks for any information :)

  1. I just recently went to london to visit my sister and it was veryyyy cool. i love everything about it. its kind of like new york except.. cleaner and everyone is better dressed. the tube is very cool, i think its the best transportation system iv'e ever been on. ive learned that you can't really jay-walk cause youll probably get run over. haha. i went to soho to see where the beatles last played and everything. it was absolutely amazing.

and you just gotta love those accents haha.

i think you'll love it. best of luck with your travels.

    :]

  2. London is one of the most expensive cities in the world, I 've lived there for 15yrs before moving to USA. I would advise you to buy a guide book for budget minded tourist. There are many to choose at Barnes and Noble. It will give all the information about enjoying the city and its culture., plus the least expensive places to stay and eat. The cheapest eateries are Indian take away places. They are everywhere, and if you can eat Mexican food, you'll enjoy Indian cuisine, its the most popular food in UK. London has much to offer in terms of sightseeing. Tourist Information booth can be found in almost all major rail stations. Don not change your dollars from private stalls, you'll get a better rate from banks. One thing you'll "enjoy' is the constant rain, mostly drizzle, it hardly ever stops in winter. The atmosphere in London is so unique, and enchanting, you'll never experience it anywhere else in any other city. Good luck.

  3. i agree...  i went to london *to visit my friend who was studying abroad* and fell in love with the city.  it is a bit fast paced but they definitely make time for fun!!!  if i was you i would take the opportunity to study abroad.  my friend really got a taste of the city and had enough free time to travel around as well.  her program also had traveling retreats and "field trips" which i attended with her while i was visiting...  they were very laid back about it all.  and just so you know:  my friend is in london right this very moment visiting for the fourth time!!!  it is just a wonderful place and i really hope that you make it there soon :)  gl

  4. I just went to london for a few days.  I was a part of people to people and traveled western europe.  It is very fast paced, but so pretty.

They change gaurds at Buckingham palace every two hours, but once a day there is a parade for it.

    The Driving is insane.

    Double Deckers everywhere

    Great theater

    Good food.

The London Eye is amazing, and in the building next to the london eye there is a wax model of james bond, and I saw the mystery machine

A great place to go shopping is Convent Garden.

If the Flag is up at Buckingham palace the queen is in, if its down, she is out.

She doesn't drive a big car either because when we left hte church hill war rooms we saw her drive by,

What people think is the london bridge actually isnt.  the london bridge is quite plain and boring, the fancy bridge near it is the Tower Bridge.

The history is amazing, like at the Towers, it is said that if The ravens ever leave the castle will crumble so they have a raven keeper take care of them.

Big Ben is not the name of the clock tower, but the bell inside it.
