Another little snippet that you might not find on the Web - Shires make the best nurse mares ever because they are tolerant and fairly docile. Some of the big TB farms keep their own small band of them just for that purpose. We borrowed one for a foal that lost her dam and I've used just about everything including an Appy and the Shire was by far the best and easiest to deal with.

I have bred and raised shire horses for over 40 years. I pretty much know all there is to know about shires. feel free to ask any questions you feel need answered. Also I do classes on shires.
