  1. We spent some time in the Copper Canyon this past summer... although we did not camp.  I highly recommend finding a local hiking tour group leader or private guide if you wish to explore the canyon.  It is difficult to tell exactly which sort of camping facilities you are expecting, but there are not US style campgrounds per se in the Copper Canyon area (check the links below for more information).

That said, you can contract with private guides before you travel to the Copper Canyon, or negotiate with them once you arrive.  We arranged services with a private bilingual guide prior to our travel and spent several days hiking into the more remote areas.  Because our guide not only spoke English and Spanish, but also could communicate in the language of the indigenous population, we were able to see and do things that most travelers are not.

The Copper Canyon is truly one of the jewels of Mexico and advance planning will help you make the most of your time there.
