Information about drugs?

Well I'm writing a story and in the story there has to be some drug use. (it's based on the story of the American Idiot album by Green Day) I have never done any drugs and I never plan on it, I also don't have much knowledge of drugs. So could someone tell me a type of drug that someone might use to make emotional pain "go away?" Like if they wanted to relax or forget. And could you describe how it's used and what the high is like, then how it affects your body coming out of the high? Thanks!

Marijuana. It makes you tired and hungry.

umm you could use alchohol it will makes people sort of queesy and start to not talk properly people also get blurry vision and they feel dizzy it also makes people forget things or get over things. alchohaol normally makes emotional pain go away.

if u have never done drugs then i dont suggest writing a story about them.
