Information about perms! Should I get one?

Question

I was thinking about getting a perm but I wanted to know a little more about them. What kinds are there? How big can the curls be? How small can they be? Have any of you had a bad experience with getting a perm? How much shorter will it make my hair? Stuff like that would be very helpful

i got a perm and i liked it.  The only downside is is that you have to keep perming your hair as soon as it starts to grow out but other than that it was good.

Well i mean if you want your hair to be ruined because my sister did perm and her hair started falling out!! It never grew back the same

well it really depends on your hair type, if you have thin hair it may be a very bad idea, if your hair is damaged, the perm would make it worst. I have a few friends who has done the curly perm and it looks great. Talk to the stylist before you get it down, although they want to get paid they are pretty much honest when it comes to their advice.

I have naturally curly hair and let me tell you it is a pain in the you know to have curly hair.  It gets frizzy, coarse, tangled.  I have heard that perms make your hair really damaged...but I may be wrong...  If I were you and I wanted curly hair, I would put mousse in my hair when damp, and scrunch with your hands.  Use a diffuser and you'll have a little curl.  Use a curling iron to define if you want.
