Information about southern railway?

Question

Could anyone pls give me the following information about train timings (departure and arrival) and sleeper class fares along with train numbers:

All Trains from chennai to mayiladuturai and back to chennai

All Trains from Madurai to Rameswaram and back to madurai

All Trains from Madurai to Tirunelveli and back to madurai

As Karthic says earlier, there is no trains from Chennai to Mayiladuthurai as of now. Govt. says they will re-start the train service by end of June. But I think it will take more time for sure.

Only thing, you can get the Rockfort express from Chennai which goes till Kumbakonam via Trichy. And then from Kumbakonam you will get a passenger train to Mayiladuthurai or you can take a cab / bus to reach Mayiladuthurai. (It takes just 40 to 50 minutes only)

Hi Veena,

1. All Trains from Chennai-Mayiladuthurai-Chennai:

There is no train facility to Mayiladuthurai from Chennai. Because the line between Villupuram - Mayiladuthurai has been removed due to Gauge conversion.

2. All Trains from Chennai to Madurai is as follows.

2642 THIRUKKURAL EXP CHENNAI EGMORE 17:55

2631 NELLAI EXPRESS CHENNAI EGMORE 21:00

2633 KANYAKUMARI EXP CHENNAI EGMORE 17:25

2637 PANDIAN EXP CHENNAI EGMORE 21:30

2661 POTHIGAI EXP CHENNAI EGMORE 20:00

2693 PEARL CITY EXP CHENNAI EGMORE 18:30

6123 ANANTAPURI EXP CHENNAI EGMORE 19:30

7613 RAMESWARAM EXP CHENNAI EGMORE 17:00

The fare might be coming around 200-250

3. From Madurai - Thirunelveli,

There might be some passenger trains running between Madurai and Nellai. Reservation is not available in those trains.

sign up and use irctc.co.in. You will get information about all the trains and fares and can book and either get the tickets delivered at home or take a printout of your ticket as well.  For i-tickets you need some kind of photo id though.
