I recently brought a copy of Pride and Prejudice from a small antique shop and on the inside cover was a small sticker if i can call it that showing a sketch of "The wharf" and the name H.H. Asquith with it, the illustrators initials are E.H. New and the date 1923. The book was originally a gift to a person called J.Brook in 1933 so ten year after the sketch, I'm just intrigued as to all the history behind this.

I have included this link to a picture of the sticker inside my book - http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd178/norfolk-girlie/DSC00543.jpg

  1. Pity you didn't turn the picture so as I didn't have to crick my neck looking at it!. However, what it appears to be is a library bookplate which people at the time commonly pasted into their books to record ownership. H.H. Asquith was Liberal Prime Minister at the time of the outbreak of WWI until the middle of the war when he was succeeded by Lloyd George.
