I want to go into hairdressing and think the apprenticeship route is the best option available to me as i have my own place and need to continue working. I've been told by the local college that i need to already be working over 40 hours in my chosen field first. Does this mean it is paid at minimum wage? Also I haven't a clue where to start finding a placement!! I live in grimsby. Any help or information would be greatly appreciated.

  1. If you were under 25 you would get this funded for free through the government, but because you are over then you will have to pay for this course yourself, but you wont be required to undertake technical certificates or the key skills sections, so it should be an easier and shorter course.

Are there no other training providers in the area who offer this? I did my Level 3 NVQ when working 16hours a week due to family commitments, I think it depends on the provider. Might be worth seeing if any other training centres in the area can give you better information. I think JHP Training has a centre near Grimsby, I did mine through them and they were very good.
