  1. Contact an estate agent and they will give you the gen.

  2. I have been a professional energy auditor for 3 years know.  I have never heard of H.I.P.S. so I assume you are not in America ?  what country are you writing from ?

In the U.S. some great sources for training is:

    Building Performance Institute www.BPI.org

    National Comfort Institute

    Affordable Comfort Institute

    RESNET

I can tell you that 3 years ago when I went throught the training I thought there must be job security in this field.  The reality is this field is still very new and immature.  So regular jobs are hard to find and you need to make your own path in this field.  The exception is if you are a professional engineer licensed engineer with a college degree in engineering.  With those credentials, organizations are willing to recognize and pay you as an energy expert.

Our worldwide energy crisis is not going away, so if you have the guts to take the leap and can finacially afford it - go for it !

  3. UK reply.

Suggest you don't.    Friend has been through all the training but due to slump in house market has only done 2 so far!

Also there is franchise outfit offering to teach you to become HIS inspector so they will flood the market and depress the prices just like they did with driving instructors!

  4. I have also looked into this. The course fees work out at £2-3,000 and then you have to buy the stationery, laptop and software so your total investment is about £10-12,000.

Now is probably not a good time to get into it because of the state of the housing market.

  5. As Uk answer above, Looked into this, Course fee of £2k for what appears to be common sense that anyone could do....
