Information on being a lacto ovo vegetarian?

I'm 16 and i want to be a lacto ovo vegetarian. My dad supports me but my mom doesn't.

I need to know how i can replace the vitamins i would get from meat, and some recipes before she will also support me.

can anybody give me some good websites with information that can help?

  1. I am a lacto ovo too. go to your grocery store and ask if they have fake meat/ soy meat. I eat it all the time and it has protien and other nutrients. Also eat nuts, milk, and eggs. And fish.


  2. Sweetie you need a good vegetarian cookbook so you can show your mom what replaces meat and that you can eat a balanced diet.

    A lacto-ovo diet is easy since dairy and eggs can give you everything found in meat, but It's healthier to eat dairy and eggs in moderation. You can also get protein from: peas, beans, nuts, seeds and whole grains. Also eat a veriety of veggies and you will get all the vitamins you need.

  3. www.goveg.com is a great resource.  Try www.vegweb.com for recipes.

  4. you don't necissarly need vitamins. veggie burgers have a lot of nutrients in them. a lot of protein and iron. and you'd eat veggies too. you will be fine. google some vegetarian recipes.

    also look on VEGAN.org and go to GoingVegan. it has a lot of variety of ideas on food, but even more so for you because you will be eating milk and eggs.
