  1. When you clasp your hands together with your fingers interlocked, most people will find that their left thumb is over their right thumb. That is becasue this is the dominant gene, meaning that if both genes are present (right and left thumb), the left thumb will come out because it is dominant over the other.
    If both parents have the dominant trait, it is still possible for the child to have the recessive trait however, because both parents may be carrying the recessive trait without it being visible or obvious.
    This can be explained with letters. Say that LL means you have both dominant genes for left thumb over right. Therefore ll means you have both recessive and you will have right thumb over left. Ll means that you will physically exhibit the left thumb over right gene, however you are carrying the other gene and it may be passed onto your children.
