Please don't laugh at me or make mean remarks as I am very serious. I have recently been informed by a family member researching our family that we are distant relatives of Princess Di, What if anything does that mean for me? I have a cousin who resembles her alot.

  1. Sorry, nothing. Remember we are all related and the fortunes of one family branch rarely benefit the entire family tree

  2. It means nothing.

  3. There are hundreds of known relatives of the royal family scattered throughout Britain, so it is highly unlikely that any officially unknown relative would ever be needed or wanted for any royal function.

Besides, if Diana is your relation, you probably wouldn't even qualify if the extremely unlikely event ever did happen, as she divorced herself out of the Royal family before she died.

  4. It means little or nothing, maybe a conversation piece in the pub on a Sunday afternoon but nothing more.

  5. It means nothing for you except that you may be related to the Spencers. You are not in direct line of succession for any aristocratic titles. And the only way to be sure you have a tenuous bloodline in common is to have your genealogy professionally researched, preferably by a company like Burke's Peerage or Debrett's,companies that specialize in aristocracy.
