Question:

Information on the Mollett Family in Norfolk area of England?

Hi!

Looking into my family history and have finally hit a dead end. I have gotten to Rizen Mollett, married to Elizabeth Artis on 2 Apr 1738 At St.Mary In Marsh, Norwich Norfolk.

Any info on Rizen's forefathers would be awesome. I'm in the US, and most of the services I would need to access are located in England and I can't afford a plane ticket!

If you are a genealogy nut, maybe this would be a fun challenge for you...

THANKS!!!

  1. Here in the UK anything prior to 1837 (the start of civil registration) is noted in the Parish records, so without having a birth year for both of them the researcher probably wouldn't have a clue where to start to search. The Parish records were very brief as well, usually just giving the baptism date and not the birth date, in the event of a marriage then it would just be the couple who were named, and a death sometimes given as son or daughter of. You can however contact the local family history society for Norwich in Norfolk.

    Hope this helps.

  2. You have reached this genealogy nut:) LOL

Looks like it's stumped a lot of people.

The earlies records I find is a book "The Parish Register of Marsham, Norfolk".

Another book The Norman People and Their Existing Descendants

Under Mollett it says see Mullett:

Ansketil Mulet, Normandy 1180 (Mrs): John Mulet, Engl c 1272.

In addition, the french pronunciation of Mulet is Mulley.

I also found Rizen spelled as Rising Mollett in a poll. He was a brewer in 1830.  Book The Norwich Poll

Book the Norwich Guide and directory

Mollett, Rising (patent Solar Grate Manufacturer)

I would also check with this site and get a copy of this probate record.

Here's some burials, census, land, etc (search all spellings):
