  1. YES

  2. Sure, cheapest way would be the night train CNL 313 from Cologne to Vienna and 312 back to Frankfurt. Seat is 89 euros, couchette 109-119. If you book too late it's more :P

  3. in Europe it's easy to travel and you shouldn't have a problem making your return flight from Frankfurt. The distances are very short compared to the U.S.

  4. If your Schengen visa says "C" or "C+D", you are allowed to travel from Germany to Austria and back without any problems.

As for doing it on the cheap, check out eurolines buses www.eurolines.com and budget flights www.skyscanner.net

  5. With a Schengen Visa you can travel freely in the whole Schengen area, which includes more or less the "old" European Union countries. As Germany and Austria are "old" EU members, you can travel from Cologne to Vienna and back.
