Question:

Information regarding Talent Recruitment. Please help!?

My 3 year old son and I were approached at the mall by a woman representing US Talent Management. She just asked if we ever thought about child modeling for our son, gave us her card and told us to call her.

What is the normal process? How should I go about talking to her? How do I make sure that it isn't a scam? Has anyone ever experienced this? Any information would be appreciated.

  1. Well, with the world coming to the modeling agencies' door like a tidal wave to get their children into movies, on television and into advertisements, I cannot believe that you would be approached by a talent agency!

First of all, ask the Better Business Bureau about this agency, and if they have information on it, have her name be researched as well.

Secondly, most "talent agencies" are really for-profit "training schools", and they depend on gullible people to be flattered and excited by the glamour of the high-paying entertainment and advertising business.  They may really teach your child how to be a candidate, but then he or she will then have to stand in line with hundreds of other "sweet" "lovable" photogenic children!

Yes, there are some legitimate talent scouts out there.  Yes, there are some legitimate talent acadamies out there.  But I truly do not think THEY are going to go out to find YOU !!!!!  Just think of all the people who turned out for the play and the movie "Annie" ! ! ! ! ! ! !   Mmmmmmmphphmmmmph.....
