  2. well no organic stuff is a HUGE ripoff

  3. Yes it is. If you want to you can use it straight in to the field or compost it. However, strictly organically speaking, if the rice is grown 'organic' way it is 'an organic fertilizer' or else it will be just 'a fertilizer'.

  4. Rice straw has more economic utilities than as organic fertilizer.

It is a cattle feed. It can be used to grow edible mushrooms.

We can use ever so many vegetative wastes as organic fertilizer.

In fact groundnut oilcake once used as manure was banned for such use becos it was a nutritive feed for cattle that increased the quality and quantity of milk etc

Even use of corn - starch rich food for humans and other life forms - to produce ethanol is being criticised on ethical grounds. Becos there are other non edible alternatives like wild castor (Jatropha spp) which can be used to produce biofuels.

I support the view that we must exercise some ethical discretion in selection of natural products for particular uses..
