Ok, i made a robot that has infrared rangefinders, they work but they only detect objects at 3 inches, all parts, the microcontroler and programming language are from parallax,

I put the frequency at 35800 Hertz. So if you can help me out on this one I would realy apreciate it, thanks for helping!

  1. Sounds like your problem is that you are just checking one zone. With infared, different frequencies are good for differend distances. Below the product page for the Parallax ir detector. On the page are two downloads. Click on the second one and open the Adobe file. It will provide you with all the info you need to detect objects in the different zones, plus there is some extra documentation for the Basic Stamp (I'm assuming you are using the Basic Stamp, if you aren't the download section will provide you with help for the others). Also, if you still have troubles, you can always go to the Parallax forums, where there are a lot more people who can help.

  2. 35800 Hertz is barely above the audible range, no where close to IR, which is millions of times higher. So exactly what do you have?
